Description

Centaurus A NGC 5128 is a starburst galaxy in the constellation of Centaurus and is one of the closest radio galaxies to Earth and  the fifth-brightest galaxy in the southern sky. It contains a supermassive black hole with a mass of 55 million solar masses, which ejects a relativistic jet whose inner parts of the jet are moving at about half of the speed of light. The X-ray jets of Centaurus A are thousands of light-years long, while the radio jets are over a million light-years long and probably resulted from the collision of a large elliptical galaxy that collided with a smaller spiral galaxy which is also suspected to be responsible for the intense burst of star formation.

Revisiting  old data with the fabulous new tools in the latest version of Pixinsight on a beast of a new computer sure is a lot of fun, and (partially) makes up for the rubbish weather lately.
